We have been talking about seeing and hearing from God in everyday life. How about God speaking through Sports Talk Shows. Yes, men, now you can tell your wife, “Honey we can’t change the channel, God might speak to me.” Let me explain before you hit the delete.
A sports show aired recently that was discussing pro football and the pending playoff match-ups. The main focus was “what it takes”, the priorities, the discipline, and the focus to be a constant playoff contender year after year.
Of course the Indianapolis Colts and Payton Manning came up. One of the speakers noted that when Manning graduated from the University of Tennessee, the Colts had narrowed their draft options to Manning and another outstanding, highly-rated collegiate quarterback.
To figure out who might be the best quarter back for their team, Colts executives set up interviews with both young men. Both talked about their desire to win and their positive feelings about the Colts. The turning point in the Colts’ decision was the answer they received to one particular question: “If chosen by the Colts, what is the first thing you will do?” Young Manning’s reply without hesitation was “Study the playbook.” His competitor’s response? “I’m booking the next flight to Vegas so I can celebrate with my buddies.” Who demonstrated the mind and heart of the leader the Colts needed?
How did God speak through that statement? If we, as Godly men and women, are going to be a constant successful in our marriages, raising our kids, handling our finances, and in our careers, the first thing we need to do is “Study The Play Book”, God’s word, the Bible.
“As for me” many times in the game of life, after studying the “THE PLAY BOOK” I have called an audible and instead of getting sacked I scored.

Great thoughts! I called one of my first official ‘family meetings’ yestarday and we are all on a designated track for studying the playbook to be evaluated in one month. Micah (7) received a month long study devotional and Isaac & Layla are going to study a page out of the children’s bible after dinner with the family. Jessica and I are going to be reading through the New Testament together and discussing it.
Seeing God in everyday actions…..We watched a DVD the other day and they always have 20 million trailers and ads before the movie every starts and sometimes, for what ever reason this one AD would not let me skip it. I started watching, it was an ad for High Definitation (HD) movies. It showed movie trailers like 300 and Avatar and many others and how great the graphics were, and the detail in the movies and then came the quote to hook you…it was “Don’t just wacth the movie but live movie in HD”. The might not seem like much by God gave me something from that….a challenge. Alot of christians come to church on Sunday and hear the service and Amen the paster but never change anything. Monday morning ther are doing the same things they did last Friday night no change. From the above quote God gave me a quote. Read the Bible, and live out your Life in HD. If you want to see God working just look around at the details of your life don’t just look at the quick overview look at your life in HD….the details. Man he is everywhere…… When God gives us something to do he doesn’t want shake our head say Amen and walk away unchanged. He want us to live our lives in HD to reach the lost and hopeless. Are you living your life in HD?
WOW!! What an awesome thought! We are already on the winning team so it goes without saying we must know the “Play book.” Every victory in our life is a score! It is up to us to learn the Play book and make as many scores as we can! On our team we MUST share the Playbook with all those we come in contact with.
Thats a pretty good thought. Lots of the answers to questions we have in life are found in the “Playbook” if we just read it! Also, that was sooo the wrong answer in an interview for the other guy, lol.
It has been my experience that a playbook is only as good as it’s author. In most cases a playbook works best when it has a variety of plays to help address any situations a coach or player may encounter during the course of the contest. That doesn’t necessarily mean the book specifically outlines which play when but teaches you what generally works best given the condiitons. These reasons are why God’s playbook is perfect. One the author is the supreme being. Second, when we turn to it’s pages we will find the right direction for what we encounter as we journey through life. Some cases it may be suttle direction but still direction. A season is a journey and requires a strong playbook with a strong foundation. Life is also a journey and we have the strong playbook with the strong foundation in the word of God.
Well said,Brian.
A little boy once said, “I know what BIBLE stands for; Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.”
God gave us all the basics in the Bible and we look to the Holy Spirit to give us application for specific situations as we study the basics.
