ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Larry Potter and I am the founding and senior pastor of LifePoint Church. My wife, Jeane, and I live in Clinton Tennessee where LifePoint Church began in 2002. Although being the Pastor of LifePoint is one of my greatest passions, for most of my life it was not. I owned and operated several businesses all at one time, until at the age of 39 I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Needless to say I didn’t physically die, but God used those circumstances to have a face to face talk with me.

From that point on God began to place inside of me a “Holy Discontent” with the philosophy that is so apparent in our world today, “church as usual”. Whenever I read about the New Testament Church it is anything but “status quo”. .

And so on one Saturday afternoon I ask 4 of my friends to join me and Jeane at our house to share with them a God vision for a church; a church where the music was relevant, the teaching messages uplifting and challenging, and most importantly applicable to every day life. All this done in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that was designed for spiritual growth…Thus LifePoint Church, a growing, exciting, life changing place where as many as 350 have met on Sunday.

Although LifePoint Church plays a major role in our lives, Jeane and I believe in the importance of a strong family. We have a wonderful daughter, Jessica and son-in- law, Frank, who blessed us with 3 beautiful grandchildren: Micah, Isaac and Layla.

I would say Joshua 24:15 best reflects what my life is about “…you must choose for yourselves today whom you will serve…As for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”

Serving God as a family; “AS FOR ME”, I can’t see me doing anything else!

Hey you! I hope 2010 will bring many blessings for you and your family as well as for Lifepoint!

I was watching the Unknown God video and you made a reference to Romans 8: 38-42 which ain’t there. What were you referring to?

    Hello Neal
Thank you for your question and of course you are correct, there is no Romans 8:40-42.
I am not sure which message in the “Unknown God” series I used it in; that was a 4 part series.
I will assume (and that usually gets me in trouble) that I was referring to never losing our salvation which is spoken of in Romans 8:38-39 . Or I could have possibly been referring to someone committing suicide not losing their salvation, although taking one’s life is a sin and goes against God’s word.
The verse makes it clear that once we have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, nothing can separate us from the Love of the Father, not even ourselves (“nothing in creation” – Romans 8:39).
I hope that helped, and thank you for the correction
    Pastor Larry
